Composer's Notes

This was written and performed for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. (In 2013, they celebrated their 64th!)

It tells the story of two people who meet, fall in love, get married, raise children together, have good and bad times, and grow old together dancing the lover's waltz.

The story somehow reminds me of the song Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree, presumably due to the way the surprise ending is expressed.
