Don Orfeo’s
Ode: Intimations of Immortality
A Musical Drama in One Act

libretto by
William Wordsworth
When and Where? This year? It is public domain, so first come, first served! (It's not necessary for me to participate in or be at your performances, but it would be nice if that could happen!)
To hear and see the completed music, go
here.
The May, 2002 Boulder, Colorado USA live performance of the unstaged piano/vocal version may be heard here.
Details of the project may be found
here.
I'm fortunate to have the assistance of a remarkable composer/orchestrator to help me with the orchestration: Daniel Kim. His profile and music are on his YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@dankim291 .
My piano/vocal version of the dramatic (staged) oratorio “Ode: Intimations of Immortality,” a setting of Wordsworth's
poem by the same name was performed in May, 2002 in Boulder, Colorado USA.
Although theatres typically want at least two years to plan for a performance, I am hoping we can arrange for a premiere of the fully staged version sometime this year, 2025
NO KINGS MOVEMENT:
The citizens of the U.S. staged demonstrations in multiple cities in June, challenging Trump's developing autocratic rule of the government. This Saturday, October 18, even more massive demonstrations are planned in more than 2,500 U.S. cities and communities and are anticipating multiple millions to participate. While I can't participate directly, I can show my support by providing people in China, especially in Shenzhen, with an easy way for people here to display their support of the movement. If you're in Shenzhen and see me here, feel free to ask me for a button so you too can show your support!
If you're in the U.S., you can find ways to participate at the organizing website www.nokings.org

NOTICE:
I composed an arrangement of the Israeli National Anthem long before the current ongoing genocide of Palestinians, and I was not yet aware of the 76-plus years of the oppression of the Palestinian people by the Israeli government and many of the Israeli citizens. I look forward to the day when Hatikva and Fida'i (the Palestinian National Anthem) can peacefully coexist and be performed by combined ensembles of Israelis and Palestinians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fida%27i
